About the Cause
The Walk for Chance Dog Walk and Fair was started four years ago by the
First Town 4-H Clubs to raise money to train service dogs. The event has
been a huge success with hundreds of dogs, families, local businesses and
vendors all gathering to have a great time while raising money for great
animal causes.
The 2010 event will raise money for several causes.
Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue
Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue Corp, a 501(c)(3) rescues hundreds of
displaced golden retrievers in need of homes and medical attention
annually. We rescue Golden Retrievers who have been abandoned, abused or
given up by their owners. We are a network of volunteers dedicated to
finding the best possible homes for Golden Retrievers and Retriever mixes
in need.

Windsor Dog Park
The Windsor Dog Park will celebrate it's grand opening during this year's
event. Dog parks are a great place for your dog to be safely off
leash to romp and play. The success if last year's event was
instrumental in allowing the dog park to become a reality. There's
still much more to do though and the majority of funding for the park will
continue to come from donations and fundraisers such as the Dog Walk &
Fair.

First Town 4-H Service Dog Project
Our Mission is to raise money for animal related causes. Our primary club
project is to train rescued golden retrievers to be service dogs and to
place the dogs with a handicapped person in need of assistance. Service
dogs will typically retrieve items, open/close doors, turn on light
switches and numerous other tasks for their owners. They are also custom
trained with the recipient to perform specific tasks unique to the person
in need. Training and raising a service dog costs range from $10,000 to
$15,000. We are currently working with rescue groups to identify
additional dogs that meet the initial criteria to become service dogs. Our
share of profits will be used to train service dogs and to support animal
related causes as determined by the members of the service club.
